i'm still here

what is up! hey, so life and other things has been keeping me quite busy but i'm still around. since my last post i think i've seen 2 kd's and im now watching "to the beautiful you" ...aren't they just soo cute! i watched the japanese original like 5 months ago but i think koreans do it better! yep :) anywho...i've always been an artistic person but never really found the time, lately tho i've been keeping up with my nails and ever since kd's ...i'm inspired more just because everything they do is up to par. from fashion to hair to nails...yea, i guess you could say i've been "koreantized" ...some not all, but some of my outfits and things i put together are somewhat influenced :P anyway...i'll start posting up pix of my different nail designs for future ideas and such,  check out the few from my phone. cheers!

If you ask me one more time

Ok, this is getting redundant so i'm just gon clear it up. There is nothing wrong with my being interested in the korean language/music etc . Like I stated in my previous blog, I had intentions of going to teach English there, and so this is how I got into it. This didn't just happen over night.  Afterall, is it a bad thing If I want to learn a different language or learn about a different culture? Here's the thing, If you listen to or watch anything in a language other than your primary language, you are in the same boat as me, wether you want to admit it or not :) If you are an English speaker but you enjoy latin films/music etc...guess what? yep! If you are Nigerian and listen to Ghanaian music and vice versa where they sing in one of their native tongues, even if they combine it with english...guess what? yep! wether you listen to/watch it for entertainment, same thing. Afterall, is it a bad thing to want to learn about a different culture/language? How else do non English speakers learn English if they don't watch/listen to and practice it? Take Asians for example, they listen to English music even though the majority may not speak English, and most may not understand it either.  English musicians fly over to perform in Asia with arena's sold out where the citizens listen to a language they don't understand. I know a few Asians that watch KD's in subtitiles as well, they also listen to Korean music...naw I don't think it's weird at all and even though they are Japanese or Chinese, their languages aren't similar to that of hangul (Korean) lol that's like saying Sudanese people should be able to understand the Somali language because they are in the same continent. *pause* yea it doesn't make sense to me either. Entertainment is entertainment, interest is interest. They show North American films in theaters in Asia with subtitles in their language, should they not enjoy a good film because they don't speak English?! Do you follow.

In short, if you watch anything, listen to anything, show interest in anything in a language other than yours, then you can't tell me nothing, point blank period. Even if you CHOOSE not to explore, you still can't tell me nothing. Yea, perhaps I was Asian in my past life I dunno, but the fact of the matter is I've become more open minded and interested in things I had no interest in doing  a few years ago. Some People speak 5 different languages, some speak more...How else would they know how to if they didn't learn it. Just because you were born dutch, doesn't mean you aren't allowed to learn German or Russian ya digg? So plz lol, stop asking me if I'm Asian cuz b!sh I might be (>_<) (^_^)  ;) ~Cheers~

p.s I started learning Japanese over 10 yrs ago, but I suppressed it lol so this isn't really a rant.

On second thought, I know other non korean asians that watch korean drama's ...also reading subtitles, they go to concerts and listen to the music...lol so I guess I don't have a problem afterall :P I like to call it being open minded.

I DARE you to watch either Boys before flowers or The1st shop of coffee prince...if those don't have an effect on you then give way lol. If you are a female I guarantee it will :)  BTW, they have different genre's but I stick to the comedy/romance most. They have other asian drama's like japanes, chinese, etc it's good if you want to learn about the culture or brush up on the language

There are plenty of drama sites but these are where I chill at : sites I watch on. www.mysoju.com, www.viki.com, www.dramafever.com  . These are for the KD heads ~Cheers~

Funny story...

Annyonghaseyo :) and negative, that isn't the only hangual (korean) word I know. So, last thursday I found myself at a korean restaurant in china town ottawa, there were 2 female waitress serving that evening. I told them what i wanted (bulgogi) with the side dishes yeah...so im eating and i run out of kimchi, i asked my waitress to get me more, she told me sure but it would take some time cuz they had to go get some more right. so 5mins go by, nothing. after 10mins im thinking ok my meal experience is being messed with cuz i want to enjoy my meal with kimchi. so I eye my waitress and she noticed that I still didnt have my kimchi, she starts speaking in hangul to the other female waitress, as they are talking, i start to laugh cuz I actually UNDERSTOOD what they were saying. *pause* If you know me, you'd know that I've been into KD's for about 2 yrs now, actually wanted to go teach english in S.K so I started watching it to learn a bit of the culture and the language. *continued*  FastFwrd to that night. so im giggling and laughing cuz i understood what they were saying. so finally they bring my kimchi and i said "you gave it to the wrong table huh" she looks at me like OH SH!t how did i know that. She asked me if i spoke the language i tell her no but i watch alot of kd's..she was impressed. asked me what kd i was watching now, I told her BIG and I DO I DO. we chatted it up for a bit more before i left. I had to give myself a pat on the back tho, to actually understand a language that is not easy if you weren't born/raised there or lived there for some yrs. wahhh!!

btw the convo they had went something like this:

W1: where is the kimchi for the customer
W2: I gave it to them already
W1: *looking at my table* where is it, i dont see it
W2: over here
W1: you gave it to the wrong table
W2: oh, oops

Mon July 26

So I didn't end up going to the gym last nite/early this morning but I just came back from the gym. I burned 691 calories doing 30mins on the stepper and 20 mins on the eliptical. Each time I go to the gym, my calorie goal will be 500, if I burn more then that's great cuz it takes about 3000 calories to drop 1lb...if I work out 6 days a week and I burn 500Cal each time that's 1lb a week..plus you drop another lb a week if you don't consume sugar. Anyway, I don't wanna over work my body but at the moment I'm thinking 2 times a day at the gym will do me good. I might go again after class tonite but i'll see how i'm feeling. Yup!

I may as well right...I', still tryina hit the gym at least 4 times a week but if I can go 2 times a day, that would be great too. I been slacking and it shows..time to get focused and get my sh!T 2gether.
